SpringTraining Get-a-Way 2015

We took a quick little family road trip to Arizona to experience baseball Spring Training.  It was a blast!  We went to the Dodger's stadium and then the next day to the A's.  The Dodgers stuff is more of a production, but still fun.  Scott got Tommy Lasorda's autograph and Troy and Kam caught major league foul balls.  At the game later, Scott and the kids talked to Steve Vogt, who is becoming quite a celebrity. The next day we enjoyed wandering around the A's minor league players practice facility.  Troy just stood by the entrance and asked whoever walked by for an autograph.  (In one case he had to hold the player's cleats!)  Troy caught more foul balls and watched lots of batting practice.  It was amazing how many guys are out there.  You just wonder who's going to make it on to the big leagues.  We enjoyed a second A's game where they beat up on the Padres.  Kamryn ended up winning the throwing contest for her age group.  Her name was shown on the jumbo-tron.  (Last initial only, she said for privacy reasons!)  Unfortunately Scott misplaced his wallet that day too, but all is good as a grounds crew person picked it up and called us at home.  A friend who was still down there was able to bring it home for us.  Yay!!

January and February Update

In looking at my blog, I'm noticing I have a lot to catch up on.  These are some highlights I want to remember for the months of January and February.  Calvin/ Hope games (one Katie watched in Redlands, one in GR.), 5th grade cross-country meets (Troy ran a mile in under 6 mins!), RCS soccer (Scott was Troy's coach and they were undefeated!), high school girls' powder puff football (Kam was QB for her team!), Sadie's dance (Kam took Brett), Women's Chorale Date Night Concert for Katie (Katie played a big part in organizing the concert), and our 21st wedding anniversary.  Of course there was some sickness, running around that made us a bit crazy, beautiful weather, funerals for two dear children that Scott had to do, painful issues to be dealt with, etc.  BUT we have so much to be thankful for! ;-)
 

That's a Wrap

Kamryn's Freshman year of basketball came to an end this evening.  It was a season of learning and gaining experience.  The team was not as successful as they had hoped on the court, but had fun together and still played some exciting basketball.  Kam had the honor of starting many games on varsity as a Freshman.  She earned a lot of playing time and was the high scorer in a few games, too.  She already knows what she wants to work on for next season.  We had fun watching the games with a group of faithful fans.  Go #12! Go Eagles!
