A Good Day of Soccer

It was a great day of soccer! Katie's coach was gone, so Scott volunteered to coach. The team they were supposed to play didn't show, so they ended up scrimmaging an under 14 boys team. They actually played really well, but lost 6-3. Katie and her friend Megan scored 3 goals together. Scott enjoyed coaching again too.

Weekend Activities

It's Tulip Time around here. There are beautiful flowers everywhere. These are some of them that we saw at Meijer Gardens today. We were there to celebrate mom's birthday. It was a nice, sunny day and we had a great time!

Kam and Troy striking a pose with the statues.
This past Friday was Grandparent's Day at school. The kids were fortunate enough to have two sets of Grandparents there this year. Katie is getting ready to perform with her choir.
In Kamryn's class they recited poetry for the Grandparents.
We are in the midst of Spring soccer here. So far the game days have been pretty chilly. Kam has been the high scorer for her team, but remains very gracious and is good at passing to others to give them a chance to score too. Katie's team has to travel quite a bit because there aren't many AYSO under 14 teams. She's enjoying playing with some friends and meeting new girls.
We also squeezed in some time at a "Paint Me Pottery" shop nearby on Saturday afternoon. It was a busy weekend!

Fine Arts Night

The kids had Fine Arts Night at school this evening. The art and music departments are excellent. The hallways were covered with kids' creations. Katie's band performed too. It was a fun night! Here are some of the highlights.

This work by Katie was chosen to be in an area Art Show. Kamryn made a bear for their unit on Alaska.
Kamryn said her bird was the most complicated one in the class.
I think this is an Indian weaving that Kam made.
Katie and her fellow oboists. The whole band was wearing glow sticks and performed part of the concert in the dark. (Their director is very fun and creative.)

Fun in the Sun

We've been enjoying some beautiful weather during the last two weeks. The kids are enjoying playing outside. The kids and I are playing outside in these shots after dinner. It is about 7:15 at night. It stays light here quite late in the spring and summer.Kamryn and Troy striking poses.

Finally, green leaves coming out on the trees in our yard!

A Visit From Kyle

Our dear friend Kyle came for a visit for a couple of days recently. It was great to see him and Scott together again. (They were formerly co-Youth Pastors in Visalia.) Of course the highlight for the kids was playing the wii that he brought along.

Two slightly competitive guys!
Kam and Troy playing "cow races."

Flash Back

These are some pictures of last Spring Break that Scott and I spent in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. A little different scenery than Western Michigan.

Fun at Meijer Gardens

Today we decided to go check out the butterfly exhibit at Meijer Gardens. It was beautiful and felt like we were in a warm, tropical place!

This pictures is out of order, but I had to include it because Troy had to keep checking his "map" of butterflies to figure out which one we were looking at.
