Troy was able to participate in his first tournament on his new soccer team this weekend. The boys did great and Troy scored some nice goals. Because it ended in a tie, their last game ended up going to penalty kicks, which is always exciting. (They ended up out shooting the other team!) The boys won every game in the tourney, but had fewer goal points than other teams, so took a strong third. What a fun group of boys and families! Go Pats!

Kristin's Birthday
December means Kristin gets to celebrate another birthday! ;) Scott went above and beyond this year and surprised me with tickets to The Lion King at the Pantagious Theater in Hollywood. We had a wonderful evening (after dealing with some nasty traffic) taking in an incredible performance at a historic place. What a fun experience!
December Doings
I'm making an effort to overcome some technical difficulties and get the blog caught up for the faithful followers who are curious about the December activities of the Elgersma family. :)

Troy came in second in the Elks hoop shoot contest. (This is perfect
because the first place winner has to go on to compete at another place
and time. The second place winner still gets a sweet trophy, but does
not need to go anywhere else.)
The stage crew for the school Christmas program dressed up in Duck Dynasty costumes.
Troy played handbells in the church Christmas program.
We enjoyed having Katie home from college. One of her highlights, I'm sure, of being home was that she got to lead the Bingo game at Troy's class Christmas party.
The kids had some wii tournaments.
Katie and Scott led worship with our friend, Ryan one Sunday.
There was a trip to Bass Pro shop and a production of "What does the donkey say?" which involved much rehearsal time, but was successful in the end.
The deacons dinner is always fun with great entertainment!

And of course there are always sports going on...Kam is playing softball for school (yes, in December and January! Love it!) and Scott and Troy finished up their AYSO season, coming in first place.
Many activities that we were blessed to be a part of!

Mission Building Fourth Grade Style
Thanksgiving 2013
We enjoyed hosting some friends at our house again this year for a Thanksgiving celebration. Scott successfully deep fried a delicious turkey and others brought wonderful things too. We did miss, Katie who was away at school. We had a beautiful day, so could be outside, which is always a bonus. In the afternoon, we took the kids to run around at school. It was a great day celebrating so many blessings.

Soccer on Saturday
After their win again this Sat., the Iron Eagles are back in the number one spot for their league. The boys played well and had a pretty fun time playing soccer together. The weather is getting chillier and thankfully the rain was finished for the weekend. We had a nice spot to enjoy the fallish colors and beautiful clear mountains surrounding us. Now we're off for a week of giving thanks and trying to keep kids busy without any school to go to!
