Happy 50th Mom and Dad!

We celebrated 50 years of marriage for my parents this June!  On Sunday several family members were able to attend their church.  We enjoyed cake afterwards for the occasion.  It was a great time of worshiping and celebrating together with friends and family.  After church we had lunch with some extended family who were able to join us.  It was special that my Aunt and Uncle could come from Iowa and also my mom's cousins who live nearby in Michigan.  We are thankful to God for so many years together filled with His blessings!

Our New Home

The way things worked out with the closing of both houses, we found ourselves moving on Easter weekend.  Not ideal for a pastor, but thanks to the help of many, we did it!  There were some minor misplacement of things that we needed (Where did Scott's dress shoes go that he needed for church the next day?! Contact solution?) For many days we lived with "the pile" in the garage.  It was literally exciting when you found something you were searching for in the massive clutter of boxes.  We had big remodeling plans, so some friends graciously set up their trailer for us to camp out in for a few days while the floors, ceilings, and paint were finished.  It was a busy, crazy time, but we love how things have shaped up.  There is more to be done, but we accomplished a lot in a short time.   

Another Move

We decided that we were being led to sell our house and look for something a bit smaller on the other side of town.  This led to sprucing up and putting our house on the market.  We tackled some small projects, but didn't have to do anything major.  It is challenging keeping your home "show ready" at all times, especially with two large dogs.  Our work and patience paid off and the house sold and after a couple of other tries, God led us to the right house for us.  It had lots of potential and was smaller, so more manageable for some remodeling that we wanted to do.  We were thankful for the home we had for 6 years.  We are also thankful for the friends who came and helped pack up, clean and move truck loads of stuff across town!
