Christmas Day 2015

Christmas 2015 was a success!  ;-)  After a wonderful Christmas Eve service at church (Katie sang, Scott led and composed a story that he read, and Troy read the Scripture, we all hosted cookies after church) we came home had a great dinner and relaxed in front of the tv for the traditional viewing of "A Christmas Story."  This morning we took our time getting up and enjoyed breakfast and gift giving.  The rest of the day was relaxing as we enjoyed lunch, caught up with long-distance family and took it easy.  Scott and the kids went to check out the new Star Wars movie, too.  Hard to believe it's all over already!  Thankful for fun times with family as we come to the end of this Christmas season.

Mish Mash of Favorites

As we approach the end of the year, I was gathering some favorite pictures for our Christmas card.  These were a good window into some great memories from the past year...

Temecula Get-A-Way

Each year for my work, Scott and I are blessed with a weekend away.  It is always a great time of good food, fellowship and relaxation. This year did not disappoint.  We stayed in a beautiful hotel in Temecula surrounded by vineyards.  On Saturday Scott and I had talked about playing a round of golf.  (He would play and I would ride along.)  We found a course where he could play for a great price and we were off.  We ended up being grouped with a couple and another gentleman.  This ended up being really interesting the more we got to talking.  The couple had lived all over the world, he being presidents of several universities.  He also did his undergraduate degree at the University in our town.  His stories of how our city had changed were intriguing.  They knew the course well and had lots of advice for Scott.  The other man Scott was playing with, and his wife had driven out for the day so he could golf while his wife played the casino.  He had retired at 43 so he could "live life."  He has no children and enjoys traveling the world.  So fun hearing all their stories!  We headed back to the hotel and were surprised to observe this Indian wedding going on.  They had quite a loud procession taking everyone to where the wedding would be.  Again, such an interesting thing to observe.  Thankful for a relaxing get-a-way and happy to be home ready to take on another week!

Calvin Visit

Scott had some work in Grand Rapids for a board that he is on, so I got to tag along.  We so enjoyed the fall time on this beautiful campus.  (A dramatic difference from the hot, dry Southern California weather we've been having!) We got to spend a lot of time with Katie and met many more of her friends.  We took in some sports, saw family and friends, and just had time to enjoy being away and to rest.

ACA Volleyball 2015

Kam decided to try volleyball this year and ended up making Varsity.  She is thrilled and enjoys starting and playing front row.  The girls have a lot of fun together and are coached by a great coach.  I had fun capturing some warm-ups, game highlights and post-game celebration. :-)
