Recent Family Pic

While the 5 of us our together, I insisted we take a family photo.  Nothing fancy, but nice to document. :)

Kamryn Plays Some Basketball

We traveled across a couple freeways to go watch Kamryn and the RCS Middle School Eagles play a basketball game.  It was fun for Katie to be able to cheer her on in person.  After an injury in the first minutes of the game, Kam fought through the pain to return to the game.  The Eagles had a nice lead with Kam getting some nice rebounds and baskets.  After subbing some other girls in to get some experience, our lead dwindled and the first string went back in.  Kam and friends finished strong with a nice win.  We look forward to good season!

Some Spring Sports

We've been enjoying watching the kids play sports.  This time I'll highlight Troy who's playing baseball for our city league on the Yankees and some soccer for his other team.  He loves both.  He's been playing shortstop and doing some pitching.  In soccer he runs the midfield and puts in some nice goals and assists.  We just love the friendships and encouragement Troy gives and gets from other players and coaches.  I'm so thankful for great coaches who mesh well with his personality.  We enjoy the friendships we continue to make with families who also love sports, too.  Makes for fun times spent outside on these beautiful spring days. :) P.S. Those lovely ladies in the last pictures are not soccer moms (their words, not mine!), they're Katie and her friends visiting us for their spring break!  Such fun!

Dance!

One of the highlights of being a middle schooler is the chance to attend the big dance each year.  This year because of the joining of two schools, there are two dances being held.  Each campus will host one.  After a bit of drama in the choosing of themes, everyone decided to make it a fun evening and have a great time together. :)  We found Kam a dress to fit the "black and white" theme and got her all spiffed up for the big night.  She had to quickly switch gears from basketball player with an afternoon practice, to beautiful eighth grader all dressed up that same evening.  It all came together well and the kids had a great time!

Mission San Juan Capistrano

I was fortunate enough to accompany Troy's fourth grade class on their field trip to Mission San Juan Capistrano a couple of weeks ago.  What a great day!  The beautiful weather made a perfect backdrop to explore this historical jewel.  We had a great docent which made it fun for the kids and adults!  We toured the mission (which the kids had studied in class earlier in the year) and then after lunch, had a time of making adobe bricks.  So thankful for Troy's classmates and wonderful teachers.  It was fun to get to know some new families to our school and also have Patti be my co-pilot.

RCS Soccer 2014

Troy was excited to play on the RCS fourth and fifth grade soccer team this year.  It's always a fun time of blending lots of different skill levels for some competitive games.  There were enough kids to make up 3 teams.  Scott volunteered to coach Troy's team.  They both did a great job and ended the season undefeated!
