End of Season Party

Troy had a great RBY season again this year.  His team was comprised of boys with varying abilities, but everyone showed improvement at the end of the season.  There reason everyone showed improvement was because of the excellent coaches.  Each of the coaches was encouraging, yet competitive.  We appreciate how even in some tough situations, these men showed integrity in how they handled them. The A's ended up taking first place in their division and second place in play off games.  We will miss hanging out with these families.  Thanks for a fun season!

Celebrating With Friends

Moving around a lot has its challenges.  One of those challenges is making good friends.  We had the privilege the other evening of celebrating with some friends we've only known a short time.  They are in the Air Force and have moved around a lot too.  Sam is retiring from a great career and moving on to a second one. We met them when their son and Troy were on the same baseball team two years ago and then they started attending our church and the friendship continued. I wish Sam was in this picture, but we had a wonderful evening learning about military tradition and sacrifice and blessing. We will miss these friends and are thankful to God for the people He brings into our lives!

A Happy Father's Day Weekend

We had a great (although BUSY) weekend celebrating life and dads. Here's a couple fun pictures a friend took the other day at Troy's baseball game.  Good family time.  Love these people!

P.S. This boy was MVP of his game. :)

All About Katie...

We went apricot picking at some friends' the other day.  She suggested we make apricot jam with our harvest and promptly handed over all her supplies for us to borrow.  Katie decided she was up for the challenge and she, along with the help of some friends, successfully canned 12 jars of apricot jam.  Although the kitchen was a little sticky, no one was hurt or burned (too badly) in the process. I have not actually tried the jam yet, but several people report that it is wonderful!  Nice work, Katie (and Erin and Sarah!)  And you will have pictures on here one day :)

Watchin' Some Softball...

This evening Kamryn had her first All-Star softball game.  The girls played a U16 team and actually won!  We were so proud of Kamryn. She played great in the field-coach played her all over and got a triple and a single, bringing in 2 rbi's.  It's always kind of nerve-racking when having to prove yourself on a new team again.  Kamryn is one of only 2 eighth graders, the rest of the girls are all going into highschool! Go Redlands Blue!

And They're Done!

We've come to the end...of another school year!  Happy to say Troy passed the third grade and is ready to try fourth grade and Kamryn is ready to be a big eighth grader!  It seems like just weeks ago we were starting school a week late because of our cross-country trip to bring Katie to school. Troy will always remember the challenges of beginning third grade with a broken right arm, but he did great! I'd say both kids have grown physically, but both have also grown spiritually and shown maturity over the year.  We're proud of them both!  Now, on to summer...

Tough Guy

Troy had a bit of an accident in his game the other evening.  He took a ball to the mouth while sliding into third base.  The good news is he was safe...just kidding!  The good news is he didn't have major damage to his mouth!  His lip took most of the impact so there wasn't much damage to his teeth.  He did get a cut and two minor chips off his front teeth.  He was tough, though, and after getting cleaned up and checked out, he refused to come out of the game. :)

Swimmin' With the Third Graders

It feels good to blog again.  Life has been busy.  We thought Senior year for Katie was busy, but May came in like a whirlwind and carried us away this year.  We are so enjoying having Katie home from college (even though there are no pictures of her!).  She's been a big help at home and running kids to practices.  She got thrown back into family life at full speed.  It's fun to see her plugged back in at church and with her Redlands friends.  Kam and Troy are both finishing up softball and baseball regular seasons and have both been asked to play on All-Star teams this summer.  This does complicate our schedules a bit, but it's something they both love and since we will be home most of the summer, it works.  We are finishing up a great school year for Kam and Troy this week.  It seems like just a few weeks ago they were starting school late because we had to take Katie to college. :)  Today I got to hang out with Troy at his class swim party for a bit.  A friend of his, Vinnie, (we love his name) has a ridiculously cool yard and hosted the party this year.  Fun times in third grade!  Looking forward to a great summer!

Celebrating Kamryn!

The other evening we were privileged to celebrate the achievements of the 7th and 8th graders at Kamryn's school.  Kamryn was recognized for several accomplishments including:  honor roll, softball team, basketball team, volleyball team, English award, Bible award, Intramurals award, Presidential academics award, Knowledge Bowl award, and some others I'll have to look up :)  We are so proud of Kamryn!  It was fun to celebrate her achievements in Middle School!
