Trying to Keep Up!

I should take more time to edit these pictures, but if I don't get these on the blog now, I'll get way behind. Troy and the Yankees took on the Phillies in the championship game the other evening. It was pretty exciting and the boys played great. Unfortunately, we came up a run or two short and lost 13-12. We were all pretty "into it." As you scroll down the pictures, you will notice Scott couldn't even sit down! We were blessed to have some out of town guests and church friends there to watch and help cheer Troy on. It was a great season and now Troy is thrilled to have been asked to play on the All-Star team. Hopefully that will be as fun as being on the Yankees. It looks like there are a few more baseball games in our future!

The team getting another trophy. Love the kids getting distracted by the dog!

More Exciting Than...

Last Thursday we found ourselves yet again at the baseball fields. We thought this was to be Troy's last game with the Yankees. They were playing their second playoff game against the first place Padres. The Yankees have been a good little team this year, but don't usually have the strength to finish well. This game was to be different. They hit well and played strong defense. They silenced the usually raucous Padres parents. It came down to the last inning. The score was 10-9, with the Yankees ahead. There was one out with a runner on third. The Yankees were in the field. Troy was at the pitcher position. The coach told him if he caught it to run home with it. That, in fact, is what happened. Troy got the out at home. The next batter hit it again to Troy and he ran the ball over to first for the last out! A team dog-pile on Troy ensued. Yankees parents and fans were going wild. Parents were "high-fiving" me for Troy's great plays. It was just a ton of fun. Troy was given the game ball and had all the players sign it. They face the Rays tomorrow for the championship. Go Yankees!

Another "Last"

We watched the final performance of Katie's last high school play on Saturday evening. Being in high school plays has been a highlight of her high school career. The directors in each of her two high schools demanded a lot, but she rose to the challenges and loved it. This most recent play was called "Cash on Delivery" and was a British comedy. It was quite hilarious. Katie was honored at the end of the play as she was chosen to receive a drama "scholarship" for her work in ACA's drama program. Quite an honor!

Troy Boy Turns 8!

This year due to the fact that he has a sister who's a Senior in high school, Troy's b-day needed to be low-key. He had a big party last year, so we had said no friend party this year. For his present he had some ideas, but in the end chose a Nintendo DS which he has been wanting for awhile. Because these gadgets are not cheap, this was to be his only present. (It was... mostly.) Troy's baseball party also fell on the evening of his birthday, which couldn't have been more perfect. He has a great little team and loves all the boys. They had a wonderful time running around a pizza place and the team mom had cupcakes for everyone. They had Troy stand up and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to him before we ate. He got to celebrate at school with "double fudge" brownies and got his name announced during pledge time. He said he had at least 24 people say happy birthday to him! It was a great day celebrating Troy!

Another Sweetie

We got to babysit sweet Olivia the other evening while her parents went out. What a cutie! (Troy thought so too.)

Senior Award

The principal at Katie's school emailed us a couple weeks ago that Katie was going to receive an award during chapel time and that we might want to be there. We successfully kept this secret from Katie and enjoyed sneaking down the halls of the high school on chapel day so she would not spot us. It was hilarious watching her face as she finally did see us walking into the gym in front of everyone. (What are my parents doing at school?!) A boy and girl student were chosen from each grade level (9-12) to receive basically a Christian character award. We were very honored that Katie had been chosen for this! We are so blessed as we look back on the past two years wondering about switching Katie during the middle of high school and making another major move. She has thrived and we are thankful! Great work, Katie!

A Great Day in the Park

After church, Scott planned a picnic with some friends in the park for Mother's Day. With KFC, wiffle bat, frisbees, and blankets in tow we settled in to enjoy a beautiful day outside...

Thankful for these moms!

Micah 6:8

"He has shown you, o man, what is good. What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God."

I was thankful that I saw this verse lived out by our kids this week...

Kamryn is not only playing her heart out in softball this year, but is making a difference in the lives of her coaches and teammates. It's amazing to see her shine. Here she is at catcher-her new favorite position!
Troy has lots of buddies around the baseball fields.
Katie at her Kerygma concert this week. What a great group of students!

Holland Fest 2012

We've now experienced our 2nd Holland Festival at RCS. It is actually the 59th year of this tradition. This production is the most involved school festival/fundraiser we've ever seen in a place. Everyone in the school community seems to have their duties and jobs to make it successful each year. The kids always love this day. There's lots of food, games, corny prizes, people to chat with, auctions to watch and fun to be had! We had a beautiful day again this year and are thankful that so many people came out to support our Christian school! I think Troy had a really good time. Tonight when I was tucking him in bed he said, "Only 364 more days til the next Holland Festival." :)
