Troy's Special Day

Today the kids had off of school. Grandma Elgersma had invited the girls to go skiing, so we let Troy choose what he would like to do with mom and dad in the afternoon. He chose to go to Yesterdog and bowling. Some highlights... Neat memorabilia on the walls. Scott eating "The Killer."

Each of us bowling. Real life bowling is much harder than on the wii!

We are celebrating tonight...Scott finished his last exam today. He is officially done with winter quarter-which has proven to be his hardest yet!

Fifteen Years and Counting!

Today Scott and I celebrate 15 years of marriage! Scott is in the middle of end of quarter craziness (finishing papers and studying for exams) at Seminary, so we will officially celebrate next weekend when he is finished... Here are some photos for your enjoyment. I thought you all could use a good laugh on a chilly February day, so I included our wedding picture. (Gotta love my big hair and super skinny Scott!) I am so thankful for God's faithfulness and blessings over these past years!
Beautiful flowers that I received last night.

Brag On Kamryn

Tonight we attended a reception at Calvin for Kamryn. All of the artists (kids from area public and private schools K-highschool) who had work chosen for the exhibit were invited to attend with their families. We had a nice time milling around checking out other artwork and chatting with people. Congratulations, Kamryn!

For some reason, I neglected to put up a Valentine's photo. Here is our Friday morning celebration. It was a little hurried as I had to rush off to school to sub that morning, too. Hope everyone enjoyed their own celebrations!

What A Day!!

Today we were blessed with a 60 degree day in the middle of February!! It's just so unusual that after school every last neighborhood kid was outside enjoying the warmness. It was so nice! I have been busy subbing lately, but enjoyed a day at home with Troy today. We went to Coffee Break this morning and then brought Scott lunch at the Seminary. Tonight Kamryn and I went over to Calvin to take a picture of her artwork that is on display in the Fine Arts Center. She was honored this week when her art teacher told her that from this regional display it was one of 15 pieces chosen to go on to "state." She's pretty excited!
Since it was so warm, I had the idea that I wanted BBQed hamburgers! Scott laughed at me, but everyone thought it was a pretty great idea after tasting a bit of summer at dinnertime! (You have to realize 2 days ago this deck was covered with snow!!)
This is Kam's artwork that's hanging up at Calvin. She did it with chalk. I think she did a neat job with the colors! She called it "Sierra Sunset".

This isn't the best picture, but we finished Troy's fleece blanket tonight. Katie and Kamryn finished Kam's the other day. Kamryn chose White Sox fleece and Troy chose the Cubs.

Busy With Basketball

This past Saturday was again filled with basketball games. Kamryn had a double header to end the season. It was exciting because they held the games in the new gym-a beautiful facility. Troy is figuring out more and more each week. He is very focused and tries to block as much as possible. He hasn't made a basket in a game yet, probably because he is too shy to call for the ball from the older boys. He really loves playing though.
Troy sticking to his position. Here Kamryn is going up for a basket.

Here is Kamryn's Pure Play team for the 2008-2009 season.
(Somehow we got the religious icons in the background too!)

Each team enjoyed a pizza party after their last game.
Today Kamryn got some exciting news. She was called out of class to go see the art teacher. He told her that one of her art projects had been chosen to represent the school in an exhibit displayed at Calvin. (I guess there is one project chosen from elementary and one from middle school.) She was quite excited and told me quietly in the car that she was pretty proud of herself! :) I haven't seen the chalk drawing, but will post a picture soon. This is the form we had to fill out to officially enter her work. She reminded us about 10 times that this had to be done! Good work, Kam!
